IT Professional
My name is John Cassels, and I’ve called Victoria, BC home since 2005, after making the move from Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. While I’ll always value the friends and memories I made there, relocating to the West Coast was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
I got my start in the IT world working in PC wholesale, building custom computers before completing a Computer Network Engineering program at a local college and earning my Microsoft MCSE certifications. Along the way, I added several other credentials, including Microsoft’s Small Business Specialist certification.
For many years, I ran my own IT business in Kitchener-Waterloo, specializing in fixing and upgrading small business networks and systems—often stepping in to correct poorly designed infrastructures. I also built websites and explored a variety of tools and technologies that deepened my skill set.
Although the tech landscape has evolved dramatically since those early days, one thing hasn’t changed: my passion for learning. I continue to take courses and stay current with the latest technologies, ensuring I can adapt, grow, and deliver value in an ever-changing industry.

What I do at BCEHS
Currently, I am an IT professional who is employed by BC Emergency Health Services, which is part of Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). More specifically, I work with 911 Ambulance technical operations. I am the Team Lead for the Tech Ops group, and together with my team, we look after the 3 Provincial 911 ambulance dispatch centres, and the technical devices in all the ambulances. A little stressful at times, but quite rewarding and i work with a very unique and creative team to get the job done 24/7/365.

What I do at sPacific Print
This is a project that is being built with 2 other partners. We have purchased a large flatbed UV printer, capable of printing on any surface, up to 2’x3’. That means we can print on glass, acrylic, ceramic tile, wood, or corroplast. we also have a large laser cutter for precise cuts and etching on projects.
We currently have a wide range of business customers that we work with doing custom items for their business.
